In the prestigious magazine "Quaternary" of 1961 appeared the news "New facies of the Paleolithic in Sicily (Giancaniglia)" signed by Giosuè Meli employed at the Superintendence of Antiquities of Palermo. In Ciancaniglia, in a colossal excavation of the Quaternary terrace, on which the cemetery of Termini Imerese rests, for the opening of a ring road, at a depth of about 25 meters lithic finds attributable to the Middle Paleolithic would have come to light.
