Villa di Sperlinga (Malaspina juvenile prison)
Boris Giuliano Avenue.
Villa Sperlinga was originally owned by Giovanni Stefano Oneto, Duke of Sperlinga who had it built in 1667 [1] and it belonged to the family for a long period until in 1835 the Senate of Palermo, who became the new owner, used it as a new hotel for the poor and in 1839 the prince of Palagonia, who bought it, created the "Settlement of begging ". Today the entrance to the villa is home to an institute for juvenile re-education and what remains of the ancient hunting park is a municipal garden near Piazza Unità d'Italia. Inside the villa and in Piazza Unità d'Italia there are three sculptures by Vittorio Gentile: “Lovers as genesis of vertical form”, “Hypothesis of horizontal form” and “Large torso”.
