Description

Villa Cerami

Villa Cerami in Catania was the residence of the Rosso di Cerami family. Today it is the seat of the Faculty of Law of the University of Catania. It rises at the end of via dei Crociferi.
The entrance portal is noteworthy, adorned with the lithic coat of arms of the Rosso di Cerami family, which overlooks the large courtyard of the villa, in which the monumental staircase, enriched by a fountain, is inserted. The villa is made up of eighteenth-century buildings remodeled in the nineteenth century. In the courtyard, which separates the villa from the new building of the law faculty (by the architect Francesco Basile), is the Grande bagnante, a bronze work by Emilio Greco.
