Benedictine monastery

Built in 1176 and enlarged in 1300, it has an internal courtyard layout, consisting of a square with a central cloister adjacent to the church and a rectangle whose courtyard (bordered by the dormitory, the guesthouse, the stables and other structures necessary for life comunity) ends in the curtain of the medieval defensive walls. In a state of neglect in the 700th century, the monastery was rebuilt in the second half of the 1747th century, the baroque portal at the entrance to Piazza Guglielmo dates back to XNUMX. Of the ancient towers, the three western towers (Belvedere, Fornace and delle Prisons). The old refectory is now used as a hall of the municipal council.
