Church of Our Lady of Grace (Santa Maria della Grotta)

Pace hamlet
Built in the seventeenth century on a project by Simone Gullì near a sixteenth-century oratory, where a painting of the Madonna was venerated in a cave. Destroyed by the earthquake, it was rebuilt in 1924 based on a project by the architect Guido Viola, maintaining the characteristics of the original structure. The church has a circular plan with a late Renaissance arched atrium surmounted by a large dome. Included in the list of restricted architectural assets (Ministerial Decree 364/09 of 18/01/1918)
The name of the church seems to refer to the existence on the spot of a natural cave and since ancient times the image of the SS was venerated. Virgin called Madonna della Grotta.
