Description

Monk's Grotto

Name

Cave with Pleistocene deposit.

Description

The cave is accessed both from a large arched entrance and from a side tunnel dug into the rock for approximately 35 m. At the mouth of the latter, on the right, until a few years ago a clay pillar was visible on which a clay basin was inserted to collect the water that filtered through the roof. However, those remains of large bones, teeth and skulls reported at the end of the nineteenth century and referred to a deposit of Pleistocene fauna have not been found.
