Feast of Our Lady of Rosary
The Madonna del Rosario is the protector of the fishermen of Favignana and is celebrated on 7 October each year. The celebrations include a tour of the band through the streets of the island, the celebration of solemn mass at the Mother Church and a large procession followed by fireworks. During the celebration, the blessing of the boats also takes place, to which the fishermen usually respond by sounding the horns of their boats in honor of the Madonna.
In conjunction with the festival, musical events or shows are held in the square, and on some occasions the "Egadi Fish Festival" was also held.
The entire organization of the festival is promoted by the Fishermen's Committee with the support of the Municipality of Favignana and with donations from the entire community. It is in fact traditional that on this occasion the fishermen go from door to door begging to collect donations thanks to which they can organize the celebrations in honor of their patron saint.
