Description

Aedicule Madonna delle Grazie in via Savona

In via Savona in the ancient district of Kalsa; on the side wall, almost at the corner with Piazza Kalsa, this image of Maria SS. della Grace (Madonna with child) by the same inhabitants of Kalsa. The ancient fishermen and the ancient embroiderers who populated this street and the surroundings never failed to give a precedent to this image, on a slate plate, which dates back to the 18th century. The wall on which this chapel rests belongs to the Church and Monastery of Santa Teresa alla Kalsa (1686/1707) therefore it can be deduced, also for the style that belongs to it, that this painting dates back to the Baroque century. It is not excluded that some painter decorator who frescoed some buildings in the surroundings may have put their hand in it.
