Description

Church of S. Antonio da Padova

The Church of Sant'Antonio da Padova is the oldest church in the city, perhaps the only one that dates back to the period of Aquilia Nuova. Remodeled over the centuries, also due to earthquakes, it retains a beautiful Gothic style portal. The church was initially dedicated to St. Sebastian and the seat of the ancient brotherhood dedicated to the saint. Only after the construction of the new church of San Sebastiano was it dedicated to the cult of Sant'Antonio. Inside you can admire frescoes and paintings by Alessandro and Pietro Paolo Vasta.
