Description

Area of Fragments of C.da Cometi

In a mirror position with respect to the area described in the RC_16 sheet, north of the route that connected Canicattì to Racalmuto there is an area of fragments that is almost 3 hectares wide, in which we find scattered ceramic finds with a low density of concentration. The area occupies a gently sloping plateau sloping towards the South-West and enlivened only by a small limestone outcrop, in which, however, no burials are to be reported. The land is cultivated with arable land and is bordered to the south by the Via Canicattì-Racalmuto, to the east and west by two inter-country roads and to the north by the boundary of the farm itself. Visibility is good even if there are evident signs of heavy alterations in the ground. The few fragments collected show three moments of attendance, the oldest referable to the Greek era, a second to the Roman one, and finally the third related to the Byzantine one.
