Description

Ruins of Rometta Castle

The Palatium was built in the 1500th century. on an area of approximately XNUMX mXNUMX in a dominant position over the entire Romettesse area.
Tradition and research conducted in this regard say that the castle was built by Frederick II of Swabia, becoming a particularly appreciated center both for its climate and for the development and flourishing of studies. The building, abandoned to itself over the years, fell increasingly into disrepair, the last large arch collapsed in 1935. You can still appreciate both the crenellated walls as well as the remains of the prison tower and the still almost completely intact cistern.
