Description:

The site area falls within the municipalities of Ravanusa and Butera. From the geological point of view, the site is affected by the Lower Evaporitic Unit, which includes gypsum
selenitic and laminated with intercalations of chalky marls, evaporitic limestones and laminated dolomites, and alkaline Messinian salts. There are regosololi and brown soils.
Upper dry upper thermo-Mediterranean bioclimate with average annual rainfall of 430 mm (Licata station), and average annual temperature of 16-18 ° C.
From the vegetational point of view, the area is characterized by examples of arid grasslands and steppe communities formed by crop abandonment or by
stain degradation.

The site is characterized by examples of karst phenomena of evaporitic rocks, in particular in Monte dei Drasi, as well as evidence of the mining of sulfur
(Muculufa). The gypsum and clayey soils host a specialized flora, which includes entities distributed in Sicily mainly along the Gessoso Formation
