After km 15 of the aforementioned artery, about eight kilometers from Marineo, after passing the Madonna delle Grazie artificial reservoir, take the SP n. 26 in the direction of Godrano. The road crosses a characteristic part of the Ficuzza wood here composed of oak, ash and eucalyptus species and at about 5 km, after passing a votive chapel dedicated to Santa Barbara, on the right there is the equipped area of Valle Maria, characterized by an arboreal covering with columnar pines.
The boundaries of the area are marked by an elegant fence in chestnut stakes and it is possible to enjoy the majestic and imposing presence of the Rocca Busambra, which seems to be touched with your hands.
An uncontaminated landscape, a natural wood and clean air are the goodness of this area that completes the receptivity of the Bosco di Ficuzza, for those who want to spend a day in contact with nature.
From Godrano the equipped area is about 4 Km .; in this case it is necessary to take the aforementioned SP n. 26 as if to cross the SS 118 - Corleonese-Agrigentina.

Note on Sources
The information on the equipped state-owned areas has as its main source the website of the Regional Forestry Department of Sicily (continuously updated) to which is added a very interesting brochure entitled "The State Equipped Areas in Sicily" of the same department published in 1999 with the Editorial Coordination of the 8th Group - Promotion, Development and Research, editors Agostino Gatto and Valeria Restuccia. Further information was obtained from direct access to the areas and from interviews with experts and operators in the sector.
