Cathedral of Ragusa: 5 Chapel of Christ at the Column
Altar dedicated to Christ at the Column which is represented in the canvas in the centre, attributed to Antonio Manno (1739, 1810), and in the marble medallion below. The body of Jesus, exhausted by the flagellation suffered, in a gloomy and solitary environmental context, expresses in all its crudeness the drama of the redeemer's passion. On the side walls, stuccos with putti's heads. The body of is buried in this altar Monsignor Angelo Rizzo, Bishop of Ragusa from the 1974 2002.
