“Mascheroni and Faces of Sicily” is a photographic work consisting of a selection of one hundred images of masks and faces. The former, zoomorphic and anthropomorphic grotesque works, enrich balconies and facades of civil and religious buildings, often late Baroque, and are evidence of how the creative imagination of the past was transformed into a cult of the image. The faces, on the other hand, mainly present in religious buildings, enhance the beauty, sometimes impressive, of putti, angels and religious figures.
The aim of this work is to draw the attention of the hasty traveler to the details which, with the power of the image alone, are able to trigger unique and unforgettable emotions.
Characterizing element of the work is that the monuments to which the images are connected are part of the Multimedia Archive "Heritage Sicily ", where the cards are georeferenced, displayed on an interactive map and integrated with Google Street View, in order to know and appreciate other aspects of the cultural heritage associated with the images, favoring any tourist itineraries with forms of slow and experiential tourism.

The images refer to monuments that cover all the provinces of Sicily and concern over thirty municipalities: Palermo, Monreale, Cefalù, Messina, Catania, Acireale, Caltagirone, Randazzo, Syracuse, Buscemi, Cassaro, Sortino, Canicattini Bagni, Ferla, Noto, Palazzolo Acreide, Buscemi, Trapani, Mazzara del Vallo, Castelvetrano, Ragusa, Scicli, Modica, Monterosso Almo, Mazzarino, Sciacca, Licata, Piazza Armerina and Troina.
