Description

Mazzarelli Tower (Torre Cabrera)

Of the ancient watchtower only the basement remains, consisting of square blocks, which acts as a support for a terrace that is almost a single body with the adjacent villa. The tower, built in the XNUMXth century to protect against Saracen raids, was part of a sighting system located along the coast of the County of Modica. Towards the end of the XNUMXth century the upper part was demolished, leaving only the current base which was transformed into a terrace overlooking the sea.
