Description

Achillian Baths

They are located under the Cathedral of S. Agata.
A door that opens on the right side of the facade gives access to the Baths. The thermal building still preserves the imposing structures of the different rooms, among which a large rectangular room measuring 12 by 13 meters whose vault is supported by four pillars stands out. The airy vaults, reproduced in some eighteenth-century drawings, are embellished with stuccos with images of children, animals and tendrils with bunches of grapes. According to some scholars, the large building, built near the sea, can be dated around the third century AD
