Description

Temple G (Apollo?)

Good part of the multi site: Archaeological Park of Selinunte and Cave di Cusa

Eastern hill of Selinunte. Dimensions: length. 113 m - width. 54 mh 30 m. Columns: 8 x 17. It is the largest temple in Selinunte. with columns 16,5 meters high. It is supposed to have been dedicated to Apollo. The construction began in 550-530 BC, perhaps it was still incomplete when Selinunte was destroyed in 409 BC as it appears from the absence of grooves in some columns, and from the existence of column drums of the same size, being extracted, in the Cave of Cusa
