La Banca archaeological site
The Banca area is located within the Vendicari nature reserve, between the Piccolo and the Grande quagmire, not far from Cozzo Balsamo facing the sea. For all its extension, in the center of which there is an abandoned farmhouse, the territory is harsh, rocky and dominated by the Mediterranean scrub. The intensive explorations have made it possible to identify an innumerable quantity of quarries and deep traces of carriageway whose imprint has remained on the rocky bank. Given the site's proximity to the Greek city of Eloro, it is believed that too
these quarries have contributed to its architectural development.
