On the top of Mount Bubbonia an ancient city was discovered by Paolo Orsi which is thought to be the seat of the ancient Sicilian city of MaktorionChamber tombs were found on the site with both indigenous and Greek material from the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries BC preserved in the archaeological museum of Gela.

It can be reached after having traveled the SS 117 Gela-Catania for a stretch, taking the junction for Piazza Armerina. After 9 kilometers, an intersection opens on the left to the old road to Mazzarino, marked by a tourist sign
