Description

Archaeological site of Grotta Chiusazza

The cave consists of two large rooms joined by a vast gallery and runs in an east-west direction. It had two entrances, one of which was blocked. It has solid walls and vaults and features beautiful stalactite and stalagmite formations especially in the gallery. The stratified deposit includes a complete picture of Sicilian prehistory: 
Upper Neolithic (Diana Style - Masseria Bellavista;
Early Eneolithic (painted ceramic in the Conzo style;
Middle Eneolithic (Serraferlicchio style ceramics);

Upper Eneolithic (Chiusazza Malpasso style ceramics;
Ancient bronze (Castelluccio style ceramics);
Middle Bronze (Tahapsos style pottery);
Late Bronze (Cassibile style pottery);
Historical age (ceramics and clay figurines from the Greek-Roman age).

Location: Chiusazza Site subject to archaeological restrictions
