Description

Contrada Caliata archaeological site

In the area that develops along the Luni stream, in the northern part of a hilly ridge, there is the presence of a prehistoric necropolis. It is a complex of artificial cave tombs, some of which have a chamber with an access corridor, probably dating back to the Middle
Bronze. In the same area but on the sides of the road that leads to Partanna, following the excavations conducted by the Superintendency BB.CC, .AA. of Agrigento the remains of a rural settlement have come to light consisting of a series of rectangular rooms with a court and a customary necropolis
Muslim of the Arab-Norman age.

Area subject to archaeological restrictions pursuant to law 1089/1939
