Greek settlement; settlement of late antiquity. (A2.5)

Description 

Roman remains from the late imperial era were reported on the coastal plain near the farm of Baron Riso, known as del Murgo, as well as late Greek, Roman and Byzantine coins, architectural fragments such as columns, Corinthian capitals, a fragment of a marble cinerary urn with the PARENTES written, a fragment of a marble tile with TROV stamp datable to the IV-V century. AD A previous settlement is evidenced by the discovery of Greek pottery near the Basilica del Murgo, a building from the Frederick period, which remained unfinished

Historical Information

The work of a nineteenth-century hermit refers to a place far from the sea, also called Lo Sperone, a late-antique fundus that was part of the possessions of Santa Tecla, in the Murgo territory, near Agnone.
