Archaeological site C.da Calcara / C.da Isabella
From the analysis of the site, including the ridge of the tufaceous plateau, on which the present-day center of S. Margherita di Belice stands, various traces of attendance can be seen, ranging from prehistoric times to the Middle Ages. Proceeding towards C.da Calcara, there are cave tombs indicated in
past, prehistoric shards and flint. Further south, in C.da Scuderi, there are remains of artificial cave tombs, already reported in the past. Proceeding further north, you can see a bell-shaped cistern and shards of late antiquity and medieval times. In the site falling within the Villa Comunale there are artificial cave tombs and prehistoric fragments. Also to the east of the tufaceous ridge, in C.da Lauro, there are cave tombs, while in C.da Specola, you can see the remains of a watchtower, difficult to date. On the plateau of C.da Bavetta, it is worth mentioning
the presence of pit tombs dug into the tuff of late antiquity, violated and cut by trazzere.
