DESCRIPTION Of the ancient structure only ruins remain, it was an imposing military construction with a star-shaped plan (5 bulwarks), located at the mouth of the port's crescent. It was built between the end of the seventeenth and the beginning of the eighteenth century by the Spaniards, with the double task of defending and controlling the Strait and the hills above, and could possibly also become a defensive stronghold.
