Four Fountains

LOCATION: Crossroads between via I Settembre and via Cardines DATING: 1666th-1714th century. DESCRIPTION: The four fountains were all made on designs by Pietro Calcagni and were made in different periods. The first, in 1742, by Innocenzo Mangani, the second, in 1908, by Ignazio Buceti, the last two by unknown artists in XNUMX. The decoration is inspired by the sea; the Spanish and Messina imperial coats of arms surmount each fountain. Destroyed by the earthquake of XNUMX, only two have been reassembled in the original site; the two missing are kept in the Regional Museum
