Gate of Janniscuru Enna

La Gate of Janniscuru it is the last monumental gate left to defend the city of Enna, of the 6 originally perched on the slopes of the mountain, erected to protect the entrances to the ancient medieval city of Castrogiovanni in times of siege.

The Porta di Janniscuru has a Roman arch, round arch and is located in the middle of a short stone staircase that descends alongside the ridges of living rock, in which there are countless burial caves dating back to the Neolithic, including the Guardiola cave.
