The preparation of the Pulitu breads is linked to the tradition of the Dinners of San Giuseppe rdates back to 1832, when Baron Guglielmo Vitale, after his death, left the income of three vineyards to the Mother Church to solemnize the feast of the Saint, protector of the municipality. On this occasion, for the first time large tables were set by the faithful.

Description
Il Pulitu breads di San Giuseppe represents the main element of the Dinners of San Giuseppe; it is a ritual bread, prepared with durum wheat flour, baked at home in brick ovens, characterized by different and particular symbolic forms, and precisely for this reason worked and decorated by skilled and expert hands.
These loaves adorn the altar that is prepared between the evening of the 17th and the day of the 18th in the homes of the devotees who have dissolved a vow or received a grace from St. Joseph. The traditional ritual forms are: to varva, the beard of St. Joseph representing the face of the Saint, u vastuni (the stick) in bloom that recalls the royalty of the Saint, his initials S and G, the Holy Family, to hope (the sphere) or the monstrance, a little dog, a cockerel, pears, a bunch of grapes.
Il Pulitu breads it is eaten together with the rest of the food on the 19th after the arrival of the "Saints", Jesus, Saint Joseph and Mary, personified by 3 poor people, chosen by the family who prepared the Supper in honor of the Saint from among the neediest people in the country.
