The former Benedictine Monastery, (1626th-1637th century), the current Palazzo della Cultura, was present on this site as early as 1860, together with the Church of Sante Caterina e Scolastica restored for civil use in the early decades of the XNUMXth century. The Monastery, dedicated to San Benedetto in XNUMX, was requisitioned by the royal government in XNUMX. It currently houses in its large rooms, as well as some municipal offices, the Civic Archaeological Museum and the Chocolate Museum of Modica
