Bongiorno Palace

Palazzo Bongiorno is one of the most beautiful structures of eighteenth-century architecture in the Madonie. Since 1967 the building has been purchased by the Municipality of Gangi, which has made it its representative office, and houses the hall where the Municipal Council takes place.
The construction of the sumptuous home of the Bongiorno, barons of Cacchiamo and marquises of Eschifaldo, was begun around 1754/55 by Baron Francesco Benedetto, based on a project by his brother architect Gandolfo Felice.
The building, now restored, consisted of three floors placed longitude on two wings, with a hanging garden in the center.
The structure has been partially modified following restorations. The lower floors are used as municipal offices, in the east wing there are various rooms, one of which is the seat of the Pro Loco Gangi.
The top floor (divided into seven rooms), still retains in splendid conditions, the frescoes executed by the Roman painter Gaspare Fumagalli, and by the Sicilian father-in-law, Pietro Martorana, commissioned by the owner Arch. Gandolfo Felice Bongiorno, great patron as well as secretary of the famous Accademia degli Industriosi di Gangi, which was housed in the rooms of Palazzo Bongiorno starting from 1758.
