Post Office building

The Palazzo delle Poste is the work of Francesco Fichera who carried out the project in 1919 and started construction in 1922.
In 1924, during the excavation of the foundations, in the area between the southern side of Villa Bellini, via S. Euplio and via Etnea, the following were discovered: a building from the Roman imperial age, made of lava stone blocks; a necropolis consisting, for the most part, of tombs formed by brick walls covered by brick slabs; a cistern and a rectangular compartment placed next to the imperial age building
