Brief description of the product: Oval-shaped blond orange that ripens from May 20th to July 2nd. Description of the processing and maturing methods: The Calatafimi Ovaletto needs careful and continuous care. Usually trees after training pruning are pruned every three years.
Irrigation is essential during the summer with the use of 100 liters of water per plant every 10 days. The harvest is done manually and affects the period from May 20 to early July.
Specific materials and equipment used for preparation and conditioning: Wicker baskets. Description of the processing, storage and maturing rooms: The processing and packaging rooms must be healthy and hygienically acceptable.
Elements proving that the methodologies have been practiced in a homogeneous way and according to traditional rules for a period of not less than 25 years: The Ovaletto di Calatafimi is an orange whose origins go back to the beginning of the 900th century. The name is given by the oval shape and the exclusive presence in the territory of the municipality of Calatafimi.
