Prehistoric necropolis of Contrada Sant'Andrea
Description

Prehistoric necropolis of Contrada Sant'Andrea

Prehistoric necropolis.

Necropolis of the ancient Bronze Age (facies di Castelluccio) located on a rocky ridge on the left bank of the S.Andrea stream. The tombs (about 30) are of the artificial cave type and have a phase of reuse in the Byzantine age (transversal pits, in fact, are present on the original deposition floor). On a rocky spur overlooking a narrow quarry transversal to the course of the S. Andrea stream, there is a small group of pit tombs dug into the rock. Traces of a small surface latomy are also evident. Finally, it is worth noting the abundant number of late-age clay fragments that are collected in almost the entire area.
