The site is located between the railway line and the SS.113 at km 280,9. In 1877 Antonio Salinas, director of the National Museum of Palermo, was warned by prof. Gaetano Giorgio Gemmellaro, who had come to light some tombs in a limestone quarry. On 27 June an inspection took place in which the architect also took part. Patricolo and the prince of Scalea, Reggio Commissioner of the Direction of the Excavations and Museums of Antiquity. “We had the opportunity, writes Salinas, to be present at the restoration of a tomb that is still intact”. In the cell were found 4 vases to which was added a small cup and a small bottle received as a gift from Messrs Syracuse and Todaro. Antonio De Gregorio visiting the Museum of Palermo finds 19 vases on display from Ciachea; Jonle Bovio Marconi a few years later counts thirty of them intact and recomposed which would have been recovered in 1877..
