Photo: Municipality of Chiaramonte Gulfi

The collection of Emanuele Gulino, a nationally renowned collector, exceeds a thousand finds, on events that have affected the Italian military history of the last two centuries.

The relics preserved embrace tragic and heroic moments of our soldiers, in the trenches of the Karst or on the battlefields of Africa, Greece, Russia. The periods richest in finds remain the First War, the Fascist era and the Second World War.

The exhibition series of the collection is dominated by military headdresses, from all forges. And then by helmets (some with entry and exit holes, others with radio headphones) of various generations and states.

Weapons are profusely represented. Already at the entrance to the museum stands a 76/40 Breda cannon, an emblem of traditional warfare. Then gas masks, sabers, mines, hand grenades, the skeleton of a machine gun, a 1908 bullet, a machine gun belt, a torpedo-like bomb, large cannon shells, a triple tear gas canister, and then various body elements. of planes, a tank of '43 for the flight autonomy of the plane.

A large collection of military costumes is on display, with all kinds of friezes and badges.

Some lighters on display, sent by soldiers to their families, bear eloquent dedications: "Please don't try to tell me about Vietnam: I've already been there".
