Madonna of the pine forest
Next to the Mother Church, a small square with the monument to the Madonnina della Pineta. The monument is made up of a block of lava stone taken from a flow of 1566, the year in which, according to tradition, Sant'Egidio healed a paralytic old woman; on the block stands a madonnina of exquisite workmanship, by the Catania sculptor Eugenio Russo (1958)
