La Formica tuna fishery, was based on the islet of the same name located between the Egadi and Trapani on a small area that also houses a fortified tower converted into a lighthouse. Like the whole archipelago, it was bought by the Marquises Pallavicini of Genoa in the mid-XNUMXth century. Passed to the Florios in the mid-nineteenth century, it returned to the management of the Favignana factory. Thanks to its position and efficient marfaraggio, it constituted a plant with excellent results. After the activity, the islet and its structures, including a small church "del rais", are now owned by a therapeutic community.
