A legend says that thanks to the prayers of the people of Trapani, a pirate ship that threatened to attack the city turned into rock and remained fossilized near the Ligny Tower. It is the “Scoglio del mal Consiglio”, a group of cliffs in the extreme tip of Trapani.
In this part of the sea the Battle of Drepanum was fought, a clash between the ships of the Carthaginians and the Roman ones during the first Punic war
