Ardizzone Gioieni Institute for the Blind

Built in the early twentieth century by the will of Baron Tommaso Ardizzone Gioeni and inaugurated by King Vittorio Emanuele III and Margherita di Savoia. The institute was created to "welcome blind young people of both sexes and provide free of charge, according to their means, for their maintenance, their moral and physical education and literary, musical and industrial education, as well as free hospitalization, maintenance and education in moral the blind adults of both sexes "... (by the statute approved with RD 2 August 1912).
