Hypogeum Stagnone Pontillo
The site of the Stagnone Pontillo is affected by the presence of a large hypogeum. Preceded by a short vestibule, it develops in at least two rooms: the first measuring 16×9 meters, whose vault, more than 2 meters thick and 4,5 meters high, is supported by two columns almost aligned on the main east- west and a second room that develops below the provincial road, still partially underground and separated from the first by a wall in which the connecting passage opens and a large window, divided by a column also obtained from the living rock. Along the walls, in contact with the ceiling, runs a frame in which niches have been obtained, probably housing oil lamps. On the eastern wall there is a window and a door, separated by a column, also carved into the rock, which lead into another room of the same hypogeum, partially underground. Outside, on either side of the entrance, there are two cave tombs, one of which has a double burial.
