Settlement of the Monti della Galia / Pizzo Ragusetta

Settlement of the Monti della Galia / Pizzo Ragusetta

The site involves a series of hills and rocky spurs, oriented from West to East, interspersed with slight slopes. On the rocky walls there are hundreds of artificial cave tombs from the Castelluccian period while on the slopes there are remains of settlements. In particular, on the top of the hill overlooking the Monti della Galia there are remains of rooms partially cut into the rock and a bottle cistern, attributable to the Greek-Hellenistic period. Opposite, on the eastern side of Pizzo Ragusetta, there are the remains of another settlement, near the Case Crescimanno / Ragusetta and Allotto, also referable to the same chronological period. At Casa Allotto there is a splendid tholos tomb carved into the rock
