Il Palermo shipyard it originates in 1897, founded by the entrepreneur Ignazio Florio, grandson of the progenitor Vincenzo Florio, for the needs of his shipping company. The plant is located in the north-eastern part of the Port of Palermo, contiguous to the old Bourbon arsenal, currently home to the sea museum.
