Palombaro cave
The Palombaro cave is located halfway up the southern slope of the Cozzo Palombaro, about 300 m north of the Lo Zucco farm. It has a cuspid shaped entrance, 2 m high, just over a meter wide, leads into a single irregularly shaped room with a maximum height of 5 m. The walking surface is covered with a reddish powdery soil, not far from the "red earth ". Inside the cave, the high altitude of the rock, smoothed by sheep's fleece, suggests a lowering of the walking surface created for the removal of the anthropozoic deposit. Near the entrance, on the right, there is a hole for the capture of porcupines, as in the Grotta dell'Aquila; where 36 fragments were collected, of which only 19 classifiable from the final Neolithic to the Eneolithic and to the ancient Bronze Age. Outside the cave, a few meters from the entrance, a landslide, caused by the transit of sheep, brought to light a section of the ground: a mass of clay fragments decorated with ribs in the style of Rodì-Tindari perhaps with traces of the final Eneolithic (bell-shaped?).
