New cave
Purely indicative georeferencing. Redefine !!!
Going up the Vallone della Pernice, just past the Scillato Aqueduct bridge, about two kilometers from the sea, at the foot of Cozzo Pernice (formerly Rocca Incallisi), a small cave opens up. Saverio Ciofalo named it Di Nuovo, after the rural guard who accompanied him. The scholar excavated it in 1876, with very modest results. Vaufrey, who studied the materials collected by Ciofalo, asserts that "the industry preserved in the Termini Museum was of the type already found in the Grotta Natale without ceramics (Epigravettian, V. Caccamo). Currently in the Termini Museum there are 27 flint and quartzite tools of the Gravettian facies, a spindle whorl, a terracotta necklace bead, a bone awl.
