Cala Porro cave

Cala Porro cave

Palethnological deposit with materials from the Neolithic to the Roman age (Text source: Guidelines of the regional landscape plan)

The cave is located in the small cove of the same name at about 3 m above sea level. In storm surges the sea penetrates you, carrying floating waste. In 1970 the Superintendency intervened in the cave following a clandestine excavation with which several had been intercepted
cultural levels up to the Neolithic at a depth of 1,50 m. The deposit is an alternation of continental layers with layers of sea sand. From this it is clear that the cave has emerged several times from sea level, regardless of the eustatic movements, and at other times it has been submerged.
