Description

Underground gallery

At no. 254 indicated in the file of the bound assets of the Sicily Region there is the following property, indicated by Pietro Todaro: Hemispherical cavity at a depth of about 3 m in corso Tukòry, ang. via Feliciuzza. (Text source: Pietro Todaro: The subsoil of Palermo).

In reality, I am not sure if the constraint is instead referable to the following asset cited by Pietro Todaro himself:

Large underground gallery with a bubble vault, discovered in 1983 during the restoration works of Pona S. Agata. It was accessed through a trap door located at the edge of the sidewalk at the corner with Corso Tukory. It leaves out the so-called "bad weather aqueduct" built at the end of 1500 by the praetor Salazar as a gutter. Bsso was destined to collect the waters upstream of Kemonìa, starting from the Garofala pit. adducing them along the carlina of the southern sixteenth-century walls to the sea of S. Erasmo (Fig. 68). (Text source: Pietro Todaro: The subsoil of Palermo - 1988)

Property bound under the law 1089/1939 (DM 08/08/1949).
