Fountain of the Dolphins

Fountain of the Dolphins

Piazza Vincenzo Bellini
Located in front of the Massimo Theater. It was rebuilt here in 1952. Formerly it stood in the courtyard of the abbey of S. Agata in via Vittorio Emanuele, placed there by Giambattista Vaccarini, author of the church and that monastic complex. In the nineteenth century it was dismantled and the pieces were kept in the labyrinth of the Bellini garden. Of the four dolphins, only two are original, the other two are copies, remade by the sculptor Salvatore Giordano, who also restored the other two.
