Feast of the SS. Crucified
The SS. Crocifisso is the patron saint of the seaside village of Bonagia. On the third Sunday of July, the celebrations in his honor take place, which include the procession of the wooden crucifix. This simulacrum is kept during the year inside the chapel of the tonnara and is moved to the Church of Sant'Alberto on the Friday before the feast with a solemn torchlight procession which ends with a Eucharistic celebration. On the third Sunday of July, after the evening celebration of the Holy Mass, the procession of the fercolo takes place which crosses the streets of the village following this route: Via Asmara, Via Loco Secco, Via Crocifissello, crossing Via Ettore, returning along Via Grotta Perciata, Via Didone, Via Elena, Via Asmara, Via Enea, Via Aiace, Via Amerigo Vespucci, Via Achille, Via Baracca, Via del Pero, Via Tonnara, Piazzetta Tonnara, return of the Simulacrum to the Cappella della Tonnara. With the return of the fercolo in the chapel we witness the greeting of the port and the fireworks.
