Feast of the Most Holy Crucifix Calatafimi - Segesta

From 30 April to 3 May, every morning at 7.00, the Solemn peal of the sacred bronzes takes place: for about twenty minutes the bells of the Sanctuary of the SS. Crucifix are played by hand by some boys.
The Classes celebrate the Crucifix by preparing their own chariot, decorating it, embellishing it and enriching it so that it is an expression and symbol of abundance.
The feast sees all classes, with their emblems, gathered around the silver cross, a gift from the millers' class in 1776. After the announcement, preparations begin for the creation of the floats that will parade and the costumes and above all the costumes. numerous quantities of sweets, peanuts, sugared almonds and chocolates, which will then be distributed, for the duration of the celebrations, until there will be arms that will stretch out to receive them. Each class takes care to pack their "offers" in bags that bear the signs of belonging. Traditional care is then reserved for the preparation of the votive loaves of oil and flour in the shape of a crown or sun, i kill yourself. The party closes on May 3 at 20.00 with the procession of the Simulacra of the SS. Crucifix and Maria SS. di Giubino, with the participation of all the classes, religious, institutional and military authorities, accompanied by the Musical Bands.
