The Monastery belonging to the Benedictine Order was built in the mid-fifteenth century. and enriched during the seventeenth century. After the unification of Italy the monastery was used as an elementary school and, even today, its largest part houses the classes of the comprehensive Capuana Institute. The other part houses the Municipal Art Gallery.

Municipal Art Gallery

The Pinacoteca is housed in the premises of the Monastery of SS. Trinity. It contains works of great importance from the buildings owned by the municipality. Among all, the Madonna Enthroned, a fresco from the church of S. Maria di Gesù and the Madonna with child, a Byzantine icon dating back to the XNUMXth century, stand out, but there are also canvases coming from the deposits of the Municipality mostly dating back to the XNUMXth centuries and XVIII and works, mostly portraits, by the local painter Giuseppe Paladini, active between the end of the nineteenth century and the first decades of the twentieth century.The Pinacoteca also houses the works donated to the city by the painter Angelo Urzì, active for most of the twentieth century. sec. and there are rooms that will host temporary exhibitions
